York High School Wildcats basketball is built on more than wins and losses. The program runs on a team-first culture rooted in hard work, school pride, and a community that shows up every game, every season. Whether you’re a parent cheering from the stands, a student eyeing the roster, or a prospective player wondering what this program demands — the Wildcat Way is where it starts.

The four core values

Four values guide every practice, every possession, and every season. They aren’t slogans on a wall — they’re expectations the coaching staff holds players to from day one.

Discipline

Show up early. Stay late. Hold the standard. Discipline means doing the right thing before anyone asks — in the gym, in the classroom, and in the community.

Effort

Outwork the moment. Every drill, every rep. Effort is non-negotiable: the Wildcats compete at full intensity regardless of the score, the opponent, or the stakes.

Teamwork

Trust the pass. Trust the player. Trust the system. Teamwork means setting aside individual credit for collective success — a ball-movement mentality on and off the court.

Pride

Wear the jersey with respect. Represent York. Pride connects every player to the school, the town, and every team that wore this uniform before them.
These values are lived, not lectured. You’ll see them reflected in how the team warms up, how players interact on the bench, and how coaches address the program at community events.

Community at the center

York basketball isn’t just a team — it’s a family. Parents, alumni, faculty, and friends fill the gym because the program gives them reason to. From the student section to the front row, every cheer carries the players further. Throughout the season, the program hosts family nights, senior celebrations, and community events that bring the school together. These moments aren’t optional extras; they’re part of what it means to be a Wildcat.
The student section is one of the most visible expressions of Wildcat Pride. If you’re a York student, show up, be loud, and make the home court feel like home.
